Katharine’s Story – A LIHEAP Recipient and Volunteer

width=

Katharine is the social butterfly of the low-income housing development where she lives. In fact, her social skills have made her the activities coordinator. Mid-Cumberland Community Action Agency has helped her with LIHEAP and commodities since 2013.

Katherine is more than just a recipient of MCCAA services. She volunteers to help with commodities distribution and to sign-in customers at the LIHEAP outreach event. By volunteering, Katharine gets to socialize and can catch up on who is in the hospital, who is sick, and whatever others are doing. MCCAA assistance has helped her have extra money for groceries, gas for her car, and other things she may need. She continually promotes MCCAA to those who need help and encourages them to apply. MCCAA considers her a fabulous PR person, too!
