Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)
The focus of the Weatherization Assistance Program is to improve the energy efficiency of low-income homes using the most advanced technologies and testing protocols available in the housing industry.
There are two primary benefits of weatherization:
- The energy conservation resulting from weatherization through the efforts of state and local agencies helps America to reduce its dependence on foreign oil.
- Low-income families experience lower home energy costs and improved health and safety conditions of their homes. This results in an increase in the level of household self-sufficiency as the money ordinarily spent on home energy costs can be funneled to meet another need.
